Humidifiers can foster mold growth due to the warm, moist environment they create. If the water in the humidifier is not changed regularly or if the humidifier is not cleaned consistently, mold can develop in the tank or on its internal components.
We've found the best way to get rid of mildew in your humidifier is by using vinegar.
Mildew and grime inside the tank - Cleaning Guide:
Fill the tank with 2 cups of undiluted white vinegar.
Swish the solution in the tank to ensure the tank is completely coated with the solution.
Let it sit for a minimum of one hour, swirling it around occasionally.
Using a soft bendable brush, scrub the inside of the tank.
Rinse thoroughly.
Place a thin dish towel or paper towel inside the tank and turn the tip of the towel to absorb the excess water.
Remove the towel and air dry as normal.
Alongside routine cleaning, opting for distilled water instead of tap water can deter mold growth in your humidifier. Distilled water lacks minerals and impurities that can promote mold. Additionally, ensure to empty and thoroughly dry the humidifier when not in use to prevent mold from thriving in stagnant water.
